Julien Vogel

Born in Montréal, raised in southwestern Germany, Tokyo and Vancouver – I’m happy to say I’ve been able to grow up surrounded by a wide range of vivid and contrasting life experiences.

After finishing my bachelor in landscape architecture which helped form my aesthetic, spatial and conceptual foundation, I decided to pursue a further exploration of artistic expression within a wider range of media. Drawing on my architectural background and many years spent exploring sound as an artistic and musical medium, my artistic practice has expanded into sound art, digital art, video art, performance, installation and sculpture.

Furthermore I continously develop my practise of composing and performing electronic music and am currently doing so in my collaborative musical projects: Mothlike and Hivemind.

I am currently studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden under the professor Carsten Nicolai, also known under his musical moniker Alva Noto .
